Airtel Payments Bank has launched Payment for UPI Based Transactions
Airtel Payments Bank has launched ‘Payment for Communication’ which allows customers to initiate any UPI payment by selecting the mobile number of the receiver from their phonebook. The UPI app used by the ‘Pay to Connect’ receiver displays the valid UPI ID associated with the selected communication regardless. The company says it eliminates the need and time savings to enter the details of the UPI ID or bank account to process the payment. A customer can start making a payment by clicking on the Contact Money option under the BHIM UPI section and then selecting Customer Contact.
The company hopes that PhoneP, Paytm, and Google Pay will compete which will dominate the UPI payment segment in the country. Most UPI-enabled applications already provide this payment method. Talking about the development, Ganesh Anantha Narayanan, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Airtel Payments Bank, said the company’s goal is to provide a “simple, secure, and seamless” delivery experience. “Our users no longer need to worry about entering bank details or UPI IDs every time they make a payment with Pay in Contacts. We believe this feature will be significantly added for the convenience of customers,” he added in a press note. Recently, Airtel announced that customers will now be able to open a new type of savings account called Rewards 123 at Airtel Payments Bank.
Airtel said the Rewards 123 account was created to provide reassuring rewards for a variety of digital transactions throughout the year. On the other hand, Airtel has announced ‘Secure Internet’ to introduce new security in India to protect the online security of the customer by tracking and blocking Extreme Fiber malware and malicious websites. It blocks high-risk websites and applications in real-time with a network protection device for all devices connected to Airtel Extreme Fiber via Wi-Fi.
