IIT Delhi Alumnus Jaswinder Tarvinder Chadha Chair In Data Analytics
ITI Delhi Alumnus Jaswinder (JC) Chada, BTech Mechanical Engineering 1990, has got a chair in Data Analytics. The purpose of setting up this chair is to attract researchers and practitioners in the field of data analytics and data science, which is fast becoming a key driver of business productivity and economic growth, IIT-Delhi said in an official statement.
Sanjeeva Prasad, Head Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Delhi, said, “The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is delighted that former student Josie Chadda has given“ Yashwinder and Tarvinder Chad Chairs in Data Analytics.
Data drives many of today’s decision-making processes, and the establishment of this chair is both timely and strategically important for research in the analysis of IIT Delhi. Jaswinder’s mother Dr. Tarvinder Chada was the first woman to get a PhD in Mathematics from IIT Delhi in 1968 and Tarvinder and Jassi were the first parents-child graduates of IIT Delhi. Dr. Tarvinder Kaur had a distinguished career in academics and is a widely recognized scholar in fluid dynamics. He was previously the Head of the Department of Mathematics and Dean of Science at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar. In Data Analytics, this chair is named after this skilled mother son pair.
Jassi is a serial entrepreneur and a highly respected data scientist himself. He is currently the founder and CEO of Austria and the AI software company Xeria, which recently acquired the status of Unicorn. Since its inception in 2010, Astoria has become one of the leading global players in the life sciences industry in more than fifty countries. Jassi has been recognized and honored for his contributions as an entrepreneur and entrepreneur. Twice in 2004 and 2018 in New Jersey, he was named Regional Champion of the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year. In 2009, Pharmaways recognized Josie as one of the 100 most influential people in the life sciences industry.
Jassi received her MS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1992, was a Doctoral Candidate (ABD) in Operations Research at Texas A&M University from 1995, and graduated from the Harvard Business School’s Owners President’s Program (OPM). 2013. Jassi was also the Chairman of Operations Research at IIT Delhi in 2006. He is proud to be one of the “founders” of the IIT Delhi Endowment Fund. In recognition of his achievements and services to the Institute, Jassi received the Distinguished Ex-Service Award from IIT Delhi in 2008.
