But Then Jyotirao also re-entered the Scottish Mission High School in 1841 and completed his schooling there in 1847, where he met a Brahmin named Sadashiv Ballal Govande and the two became lifelong friends. It is believed that he was the first Hindu to start an orphanage for the unfortunate children.
Jyotirao Govindarao Phule was a famous Indian social reformer and intellectual of the nineteenth century. The Jyotis also campaigned for the rights of peasants and other lower castes against the tyrannical rule of the Brahmins. She was also a pioneer of Indian women’s education and was a lifelong supporter of girls’ education. Jyotirao’s wife Savitribai Phule supported him in his efforts to give women and girls the right to education. Savitribai was one of the few educated women of her time, thanks to her husband Jyotirao, who taught her to read and write.
Jyotirao Phule was often insulted as a lower-class man. He then relentlessly threw the hammer into the grip of the social majority domination and started a movement for the liberation of all the victims of this social deprivation and made the movement his life’s work.
