Shatrughan Sinha Nehruvian Hero Dilip Kumar Was Not Honored With The Bharat Ratna
During his five-decade-long career, Yusuf Khan was born and often known as Nehruvian hero Dilip Kumar appeared in several iconic and landmark Indian films including Naya Daur, Mughal-e-Azam, Devdas, Ram Aur Shyam, Dil Andaz, Madhumati, and Ganga, Jamuna. He made his film debut in 1944 with Juara Bhata and his last kill in 1998, 54 years later. Dilip Kumar received India’s second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vhushan, in December 2015.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh presented the award at his residence as the actor could not travel to New Delhi due to health problems at the time. He also received the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award in 1991. In 1994, he received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema. In 1998, Pakistan awarded him the Nishan-e-Imtiaz. But veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha wondered why Dilip Kumar was not honored with the Bharat Ratna. In an interview with Times, Sinha strongly pointed out that Dilip Kumar was not given the Bharat Ratna.
“I don’t want to compare Dilip Saab with many who have received prestigious awards,” he said. Indian film legend Dilip Kumar has died at the Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. He is 98 years old. He was taken to hospital last Wednesday after complaining of shortness of breath. Dilip Kumar was buried with state honors at the Juhu Cemetery in Santacruz, Mumbai on Wednesday evening. Dr. Jalil Parker, who treated Dilip Kumar, told PTI He died at 8.30 am due to a long illness.
